Away from Cibodas, and further down the street is the city of Cipanas. Here’s the Cipanas Palace, the President’s mountain residence set amidst manicured lawns and refreshing hot springs.
Cipanas has become a sizable city, where is a marketplace where tourists come to shop for fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, ornamental plants, and memorabilia.
And everywhere across the Bogor-Cipanas route up to Bandung, there are plentiful resorts, from the most exclusive lodging complete with assembly facilities to housing property to the more straightforward accommodation. There are also many flower gardens, fruit gardens, playgrounds, and much more for families to enjoy.
Traveling to the mountain region of Punjab, Cibodas or even Cipanas is by private car, taxi or tour bus, which on a weekday takes around one and a half hours from Jakarta through the Bogor toll road, but a great deal more during weekends and vacations. This area is best appreciated during the week, since the street usually is jam-packed on weekends, from Friday afternoons through Sundays, and particularly on long weekends and school holidays. At weekends and vacations, police enforce one-way visitors to facilitate heavy traffic congestions on these narrow roads, alternating traveling hours for traffic moving up or down the mountain to and from Jakarta.
