During 2009 Bulgaria gave 901 victims in the “war on the roads” in 7068 road accidents. Another 8674 people were injured. Everyone, not only can, but has to contribute for safer roads in Bulgaria. “Open Youth” aims at waking up the citizenship awareness in the Bulgarians and encouraging the public intolerance for the road violations with its project “300”. By analogy with the legend of 300 Spartans, who with their self-sacrifice awoke ancient Greece to "solve" the problem with the advancing invincible Persian army, we set ourselves the objective to attract at least 300 young Bulgarians to our cause to make roads safer in Bulgaria. We do not want their sacrifice, but in a fun and innovative way and with caution on the road, we want them to join the initiative. Within the project we want to gather as much information as possible about offenders who annoy the society with their behavior and disrespect of the Road traffic rules by putting at risk the lives of our relatives, of our friends, of each one of us. In the end the collected information will be disseminated in the form of a report to the responsible national and local authorities and media.
Anyone can contribute, even anonymously, about seen violation on the dedicated website www.300.bg , and there are also prizes:
The project is co-funded by the "Youth in Action" program of the European Union. |
