This was the greatest adventure in our lives. RevolYOUtion- let’s change ourselves- was an incredible experience which we will never forget. We were sent by the non profit and non governmental organization Open Youth to represent Bulgaria and ourselves, to enjoy the beautiful nature of the Alps of Austria, to work and get to know to people with different culture and customs from ours but people with ideas and principles close to ours. And exactly that kind of people we met over there in the little village of Veitsch. Our hosting organization was the United Games of Nations Austria which gave us all we needed, which was supporting us whenever we needed support because being far from home makes you feel sometimes depressed and worried.
The daily table was pretty full but it was interesting. We were starting with funny energizers to wake up ourselves and then we were continuing with the serious part of the programme- the discussions and the simulation games. The participants were divided into five groups with five different topics as follows: racism and discrimination, exploitation, migration, xenophobia and global warming. The main aim of the festival was to organize a protest in Murzzuschlag. The other aim was entirely individual. Each of the participants had the right to choose one of the five topics and to represent their own opinion. We were able to shoot a video, to white a song, to create a speech or to play a theatre. Some of us had chosen to alone fighting against the things which were bothering them but some of us had chosen to make together an effort because on our opinion the more we work, the stronger we are. During the last evening of the festival all of us presented their creativity in front of the numerous audiences.
Every night there was a special program- first was the campfire with a lot of singing and dancing around the fire. On the other night there was a Talent Show in which each of the participants was able to show their own existing and non existing talents. The evening which we liked the most was the International dinner. We made a big circle of tables in front of the hostel where we put all the dishes and drinks from our countries. And as ever the Bulgarian lyutenitsa, white cheese and rakia were the best and everybody just loved them. In the end of our country presentation we sang some Bulgarian traditional songs which made everybody to love Bulgaria and to desire to come and visit our beautiful country.
Everything was more than wonderful and we hope that the made friendships will last forever.
The last night of our wonderful stay in Austria was sleepless because nobody wanted the great experience to end, nobody wanted to leave their new friends to go home.
We miss everybody and everything!
