Multiple Language Theatre

24 August – 02 September 2007 Dolni Lomna, CZECH REPUBLIC

From 24.08 to 02.09.2007 there was an intercultural youth exchange in Dolni Lomna, which is located in North Moravia-part of The Czech Republic. So, let me tell you something more about it… It’s topic was “Multiple language theatre” and you can guess that it was about theatre, but not only-we had some dance workshops too. They were quite fun, but sometimes pretty hard to do and that’s why some of us , in their effort to it right, had slight injuries-like Emi, who had her chin skinned. However, in the end we got better and everything went fluently.Image

There were groups from The Czech republic, Slovakia and Poland and Bulgaria of course. All together we made an amazing performance just for one week. It was based on the Old Testament of The Bible-there were scenes from the stories about the creation of the world, Adam and Eve, Babylon, The Noah’s ark etc.. Our play had no words, only a few sentences in the beginning about the creation of the world, everything else we had to express by our acting and dance and I think we did pretty well! We were working with professional teachers in acting and dance and due to our common effort we made a very interesting and exciting story, including modern ballet and theatre genres. Indeed, we did great job, but we had great fun in the same time-during he workshops and not only.Image

We had a trip to one of the most beautiful cities in Europe I would say- Krakow, which is in Poland. There was another trip, but this time to a sport centre near Dolni Lomna- there was a huge swimming pool with a high bent slide, we had the chance to shoot with 3 different kinds of bow and to try extreme climbing. Certainly, there were national evenings- one of my favourite parts of the exchange, cause we have the opportunity to learn and taste many new things from the other countries, to get acquainted to new cultures and customs. The polish national evening was arranged like a marriage-there was a “young cople” , we played some typical games and tried some polish food and drinks- oscipek(kind of cheese), krowki (sweets), Zubrowka(…I think everybody knows this vodka),Krupnik(honey flavoured vodka) and more…The Czech national evening was also very interesting-a camp fire, camp fire singing, sausages and of course- a lot o beer…The Slovakian group was a dance group, so they showed us various dances, but also some typical food and drinks. During the Bulgarian evening we introduced the other participants to our folklore dances (hora), our wine, rakia, lukanka and the most appreciated shopska salad. To the best dancers of horo we gave some presents- rose oil, wooden carved plates etc.

Being all the time together, doing such a great job made possible for us to break the language border, all prejudices and made some great friendships. That is why it was so hard to say goodbye. On the first of September we performed our play in front of the audience in Jablunkov. After our play each national group had a short performance-dancing, singing, acting but most of all- having fun ? .But like in every story, there must be an end and I assure you this was a happy ending despite all the tears when saying goodbye to our new friends.
