EVS Volunteer: Borislava Ljubomirova

My name is Borislava Ljubomirova and at the moment I am an EVS volunteer in Brussels, Belgium. I work with children at the age of 0-6 at a house, called "Notre Abri". This is a specialised centre for children who have problems at home, whose parents are not able to ensure them appropriate life, etc. This place is a real paradise for the kids, because there are a lot of people who care after them and give them all the happiness they deserve. I am really glad that I can also be a part of this, because daily I spend at about seven hours with the children and although I have never liked this before, now I am completely satisfied with what I am doing.

Another good thing is that for the time being here, my French gets better and better and I can also practice my English. I live in an appartment with two other volunteers- a German girl and a Hungurian girl. Also every week I meet with many other volunteers from all over the world- Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Marocco, etc. This is really good, because I can discover their cultures and habbits. Almost each month there are seminars, where we can talk together about our work and problems. These seminars are a real fun, because SPJ- Service Protestant de Jeunesse- and EVS organise a lot of activities for us- for example visiting museums, towns, etc. and during the free time with the volunteers, we spend the night out.

As a whole I think that this project is a wonderful opportunity for me to learn a lot and also to discover a completely different world!
